What’s the current Wuthering Waves banner?

The current Wuthering Waves banner features Jiyan, and runs from Thursday, October 24 until Wednesday, November 13. Jiyan is a five-star aero broadblade wielder, and an incredibly powerful damage dealer with great AoE coverage. His ultimate sees him enter an enhanced state and summon a dragon, dealing heavy aero damage and immobilizing his foes, making him best suited to a hypercarry DPS role.

Alongside Jiyan, the new four-star glacio gauntlets wielder Youhu makes her debut. Yohou is a healer and support with a very unique kit that sees her pull different antiques from her pot, offering a variety of buffs and skills. These range from a mask that can pull enemies along, a chime that reduces an enemy’s vibration strength, and more.

Wuthering Waves gacha system explained

Wuthering Waves features a gacha system as its primary way to obtain new characters (known as Resonators) and weapons. The banners in the game are called ‘Convenes’. In order to pull on Convenes, you need to use the gacha currency called astrites, or purchase the gacha tickets called tides.

You can purchase one tide for 160 astrite. There are three different types of tide:

  • Lustrous tide – can be used on the Novice Convene, Character Permanent Convene, and Weapon Permanent Convene (similar to Genshin Impact’s acquaint fates)
  • Radiant tide – can be used on the Character Event Convene, which is the time-limited character banner
  • Forging tide – can be used on the Weapon Event Convene, which is the time-limited weapon banner

When pulling on any banner, you will obtain one of the following:

  • Three-star weapon
  • Four-star weapon or character
  • Five-star weapon or character

Naturally, the higher the star rating, the rarer the item – so you can expect to pull a lot of three-star weapons on each of the banners. However, if you don’t obtain a four-star weapon or character within nine pulls, the tenth pull is guaranteed to be a four-star character or weapon.

Beyond four-star pity, each of the banners has its own, unique rules, and you can read more about them below.

Wuthering Waves beginner banner – Novice Convene

The Novice Convene is Wuthering Waves’ version of a beginner’s banner, intended to help you build up your roster when you’re starting out in the game. You can only pull 50 times on the Novice Convene banner, but you’re guaranteed to get at least one five-star character within those 50 pulls, and the banner also abides by the four-star pity system, ensuring a four-star within ten pulls.

You can’t do single pulls on the Novice Convene – you can only do ten-pulls. Luckily, though, they’re available at a discounted rate of 20% off, so for every ten pulls you only need to use eight lustrous tides.

Here are the rates for the different rarity items on the Novice Convene without guarantees:

  • Five-star character – 0.8% drop rate
  • Four-star character or weapon – 6% drop rate
  • Three-star weapon – 93.2% drop rate

No characters or weapons have an increased drop rate on the Novice Convene.

Here are all of the five-star characters that you can currently pull on the Wuthering Waves beginner banner:

  • Verina (spectro, rectifier)
  • Encore (fusion, rectifier)
  • Calcharo (electro, broadblade) Wuthering Waves Gacha Rates (CBT 2) r/gachagaming
