Hoyoverse loves giving us tiny crumbs about new characters, and that’s how we first met Honkai Star Rail’s Aventurine as he was on the other end of a phone call with fellow IPC member, Topaz. Now, the star of Penacony’s story is here and is a truly excellent shielder with a follow-up attack and imaginary damage to bolster his time on-field.
As Honkai’s story unfolds, we’re meeting more and more interesting characters such as Honkai Star Rail’s Topaz and Honkai Star Rail’s Jingliu, and we’re getting ready to try them out in the Honkai Star Rail simulated universe to test their mettle.

What is the best Honkai Star Rail Aventurine build?
Aventurine is a follower of the Preservation path and is an imaginary-using five-star character. Yes, another tall, five-star, imaginary-using man.
Best light cone | Inherently Unjust Destiny |
---|---|
Light cone substitutes | Moment of Victory, This Is Me! |
Best relic set | Knight of Purity Palace |
Planar ornaments | Broken Keel |
Main stats | Body – defense Feet – speed Link rope – defense, imaginary damage boost Planar sphere – defense |
Sub stats | Defense, crit rate, crit damage, speed |
Aventurine is primarily a shielder but can dish out some damage, debuffs, and follow-up attacks on top. His kit allows him to boost his own damage, as well.
His best light cone is his signature Inherently Unjust Destiny, and a set of Knight of Purity Palace relics is the best for him. We recommend a set of Broken Keel planar ornaments. For all of these relics, it’s best to boost his defense stat, with a bit of speed, and crit rate/damage for his own personal damage.

How do I use Aventurine?
Aventurine is an excellent shielder; however, he can also be a good sub-DPS in your team. His talents buff his own crit rate and damage, so you can get some really good numbers out of his attacks.
While in battle, you can use his skill to apply a shield, though he grants a shield to all party members with his follow-up attack and ultimate, so you really don’t have to rely on the skill. This is key in teams with characters that require more skill points such as Imbibitor Lunae.
When Aventurine is in your party, make sure to use his technique before going into battle so you can get defensive boosts before you take on an enemy.
What are the best light cones for Aventurine?
As a five-star character, Aventurine has his own signature light cone called Inherently Unjust Destiny. This is the best possible choice to equip him with, but if you don’t have the means to get it (and, honestly, who really does), there will be some others that fit his kit.
If you have Gepard’s signature light cone, Moment of Victory, this is a very good choice for Aventurine too as it not only boosts his defense but also increases the likelihood of him getting hit in battle. Usually, this isn’t good, but for Aventurine, it means he regularly gains Blind Bet points which trigger his follow-up attack.
Light Cone | Description | Source |
---|---|---|
Inherently Unjust Destiny | Increases Aventurine’s defense by 40%. When he provides a shield to allies, his crit damage increases by 40%, lasting two turns. If his follow-up attack hits an enemy target, there is a 100% chance to increase the damage taken by the target by 10% for two turns. | Light cone banner |
Moment of Victory | This increases Aventurine’s defense and effect hit rate by at least 24% while increasing the chance for him to get hit in battle. When he gets attacked, his defense increases an extra 24% until the end of his turn. | Standard banner |
Concert For Two | Increases Aventurine’s defense by 16%. For every on-field character with a shield, the damage dealt by Aventurine increases by 4%. | All banners |
This Is Me! | Increases Aventurine’s defense by 16%, and increases it a further 60% when he uses his ultimate. This can only apply once per enemy target hit. | Battle pass |
Trend of the Universal Market | Increases Aventurine’s defense by 16%. When he gets attacked, there is a 100% base chance to burn the enemy. Each turn, he then deals burn DoT equal to 40% of his defense for two turns. | All banners |
What are the best relics for Aventurine?
As for which relics you should equip Aventurine with, you need defense. Lots of it. Around 4,000, in fact. His basic attack and shield strength scale directly off it, so it’s your priority.
