As the Astral Express crew lands on Penacony, they’re greeted by Honkai Star Rail’s Sunday – one of many vibrant characters working to get the Charmony Festival up and running. We first saw him in the 1.6 livestream ahead of Penacony’s release, and now we’re wondering if he’ll debut in the game as a playable character.
It’s a perfect time to dive back into the game, and there are plenty of Honkai Star Rail codes to redeem. Here’s the current Honkai Star Rail banner, and what you can expect in the next Honkai Star Rail update.
Honkai Star Rail Sunday release date estimate
Sunday is confirmed to be a playable character in the 2.7 update of Honkai Star Rail, likely going live early in December. He’s a five-star, imaginary character walking the path of the Harmony. So, now, we can have a full, functional team of just tall, five-star, imaginary male characters.

Who is Honkai Star Rail’s Sunday?
Sunday is an organizer of the Charmony Festival taking place on Penacony and is a representative of the Family – a group that follows Xipe, the Aeon of the Harmony, and includes the Bloodhound, Iris, Oak, Nightingale, and Alfalfa divisions among others.
We learn plenty about Sunday during the course of the Charmony Festival and the Trailblazer’s adventures in Penacony, including his true reason for heading up the Family and representing the festival. No spoilers, though – you’ll have to play the game to find out for yourself.
A few different species are name-dropped in the 2.0 updates, including the Halovians, of which Sunday is one along with his sister Honkai Star Rail’s Robin. They both have small wings close to their ears and have a halo of sorts above or behind their heads.
