Fontaine’s magician, Genshin Impact’s Lyney, is a spectacle when unleashing flourishing pyro attacks at the drop of a hat. Lyney is a five-star character that uses a bow and the pyro element and is a DPS.

As an on-field DPS, Lyney is all about pyro application and charged shots. He excels in a mono-pyro or swirl team with an anemo grouper like Kazuha or Sucrose. You can get some excellent numbers out of him as you level him up – Lyney has some of the highest scaling for charged attack and pyro characters. The more pyro characters are in your team, the better he does, as well.
The best build for Lyney involves his signature weapon, The First Great Magic, and a set of Marechaussee Hunter artifacts with plenty of attack and crit stats. Don’t forget a pyro damage-boosting artifact, too, to get some extra fiery goodness out of the magic man.
How do I use Genshin Impact’s Lyney?
In combat, Lyney’s charged attacks fire off Prop Arrows, which summon a Grin-Malkin Hat. This acts as a taunt, and upon expiry, fires a Pyrotechnic Strike at one opponent dealing pyro damage. Aim to do this first, and then follow up with more charged attacks and his ultimate.
What are the best weapons for Lyney?
Lyney excels with a high crit rate, especially crit damage. If you can, focus on this as a main stat. If not, any attack or energy recharge-boosting bows won’t go amiss.

When picking artifacts, don’t forget to check the stats. For Lyney, you definitely want a pyro damage bonus goblet, and then plenty of attack, crit, and energy recharge substats.

What are the best Lyney team comps?
Due to Lyney’s A4 passive, he excels in a mono pyro team or a team with at least two pyro users. This really is his best team – he can be used for reactions, but you’ll get much better numbers with Xiangling, Dehya, or Bennett in a team with him.
You can use Kazuha, Lynette, or Sucrose to create swirl reactions as well. If you have an Emilie, you can use her and Lyney in a burn team, though again, this isn’t his absolute best option.

- Equity talent books – farm these in the Pale Forgotten Glory domain in Fontaine on Monday, Thursday, and Sunday
- Primordial Greenblooms – you can get these as a reward for the weekly Apep boss – The Realm of Beginnings – in Sumeru’s Desert of Hadramaveth. If you don’t get the right drop, you can transform them at an alchemy station

Lyney’s charged attack, as part of his normal attack string, is where a lot of his damage comes from – so prioritize this.
